Civil War Quilt - first blocks

Damit niemand meint, ich hätte den Civil War Quilt vergessen, hier die ersten fünf Blöcke.
Ich arbeite die Blocks in 8x8 inches, weil ich nicht so große Blöcke wollte. Ich kämpfe ein bisschen
mit der Nähmaschine, die manchmal den Stoff etwas verzieht, deshalb passen die Spitzen teilweise nicht 100%ig, aber bis jetzt geht es und ich bin zufrieden...

Die Blöcke des oberen Bildes heissen von links nach rechts/ upper pic from left to right:

1. White House
2. Star of the West
3. Barbara Frietchie Star

Unteres Bild/2nd pic, left to right:

1.Catch Me If You Can
2.Hovering Hawks

Somit habe ich die ersten fünf Blöcke und es sind noch 45 zu  nähen.
Die Blöcke liegen auf dem Stoff, den ich als sashing nehmen möchte.


Here are the first five blocks for the "Civil War Sampler Quilt". I make the 8"x8" version as I don´t want to have as large blocks. They are fun to make, but sometimes I have little conflicts to fight with my sewing machine, as sometimes she makes trouble to transport the fabric at the points where the seam allowance matches, then I have to  push a little and that makes the points of the design to get off a little, but if it stays like it is now, I could live with that...The blocks are arranged ont the fabric which will be the sashing for the blocks..

Beutezüge-Pickings for a new Quilt

Ja, ich habe ein Projekt entdeckt welches mich so sehr faszinierte, daß ich wusste "Ok, das wird ein Langzeit-Projekt", Civil-War-Quilts.
Ich bin fasziniert von der Schönheit der Blöcke, der Farbe der Stoffe und von dem historischen Hintergund
der Muster. Also suchte ich mir die Sachen zusammen. Stoffe aus meinem Patchwork-Laden, einige original
Stoffe aus der Civil War Tribute Kollektion, dem wunderbaren Buch von Barbara Brackmann und einem
Lineal und einer Schneidematte mit Inch-Einteilung-bloß nicht umrechnen!!!
Ich muss gestehen, daß mich ein paar der Blöcke etwas verunsichern, aber das bekomm ich irgendwie hin und habe mir fest vorgenommen zumindest einen der fünfzig Blöcke für den Quilt pro Woche zu nähen, jeden werde ich mit einem eigenen Post hier vorstellen.
Ich freue mich irrsinnig auf die Arbeit an dem Quilt...unten seht Ihr ein Bild der Stoffe ;-))

I have just discovered the "Civil war Quilts" and I was fascinated by the colors of the fabrics, the history behind the blogs. So I have decided that this will be my "longtime-project". I have picked up some useful things for it, as there are fabrics from my local quilt-store and some of the original fabrics from the "Civil-War-Tribute collection", the wonderful book written by Barbara Brackmann
and a ruler and cutting-mat with inch-markings. I will try to sew at least one of the 50 blogs per week
and will show each of them in a individual post here on my blog.
I am so excited to start...at the bottom you´ll see the fabrics I have choosed for the quilt.
